student exchange programme

The CTCA offers reciprocal exchange programmes with select partner institutions. The exchange programme is intended for students who are entering the final year of a bachelor’s programme that has significant similarity to an equivalent programme offered by the CTCA. A student exchange learning agreement should contain a minimum of 50 credits (25 ECTS) and a maximum of 60 credits (30 ECTS) for one semester.

eligibility

Exchange students must be available to study in person at the Cape Town Creative Academy for one semester (6 months).

Exchanges are only available to students from partner institutions who have already completed at least 240 credits (equivalent to 120 ECTS) in one of the bachelor’s programmes at their home institution:

  • Contemporary Art/Fine Art/Studio Arts/Visual Art
  • Communication Design/Graphic Design
  • Motion Design/Animation/Media Conception and Production
  • Interaction Design/Digital Design

Candidates are required to be competent in academic English. We recommend a minimum level of B2.

exchange period

All exchange programmes are 6 months in duration and occur through in-person participation on our campus in Cape Town, South Africa
Exchange periods available:
  • Spring Semester: July – early December (application deadline: 1 April)
  • Autumn Semester: February – June (application deadline: 1 November)

application procedure

Students must be formally nominated by their home institution in order to participate in an exchange programme. Students wishing to complete an exchange programme at the CTCA should contact the International Coordinator of their home university.

Once the nomination has been formally submitted by the home institution, the student will be asked to upload their application to the CTCA online application form.
Upon a positive review of the student’s portfolio and motivation, the student will receive a registration form and student exchange agreement to formalise their enrolment.
