V&A waterfront
campus + surrounds

We pride ourselves on offering world-class education in a world-class setting. Based in the prestigious and award-winning V&A Waterfront district, CTCA’s central campus is uniquely positioned adjacent to the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). Nestled in one of the trendiest areas Cape Town has to offer, our campus is access-controlled, with 24 hour security, and is complete with state-of-the-art studios and fully equipped workshops.

Striking a work/life balance can be hard, but our campus provides spacious studios with spectacular views of Table Mountain, the oldest working harbour in the country, and is within walking distance to some of the best restaurants and shopping experiences in the country. Our students rub shoulders with prominent artists, well-known designers, and a variety of international visitors, all while developing their artistic talents in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

At the Cape Town Creative Academy, it’s hard not to be inspired.

design studios + lecture rooms

Our open-plan studios offer a stimulating and interconnected learning environment where students can meet, create, and exchange ideas. Huge floor to ceiling windows bring in floods of natural light, and provide spectacular views of the Silo District and the Atlantic ocean. Housing dedicated iMacs, our design studios are geared for an unparalleled education experience.

production spaces

Our state-of-the-art photography studios are equipped with DSLR and film cameras, paper backdrops, and lit up by either strobe flash or continuous lighting setups, ensuring our students have everything they need to create top-notch imagery.

Our dedicated sound studio is geared with plug-and-play recording equipment, enabling you to record broadcast quality audio. Whether it’s voice-over work, social media content, or the latest episode of a podcast, this space is ideal for all audio work.

art studios + galleries

Our gallery spaces are the jewels of the Silo District. Located next to the Zeitz MOCAA, Silo 2 and Silo 3 are home to our Contemporary Art students. These studios also function as gallery spaces where all students are able to create and exhibit their works, either individually or as a collective. Our gallery spaces are on the First Thursdays route, and are known in and around Cape Town as the home to some of the most talented creatives in the country.

student spaces

Apart from some great places to hang out with friends at the V&A Waterfront, the CTCA campus always has room for students to work and relax between classes. Our student lounge and cafeteria form the heart of our main campus, teeming with students from all disciplines. For the more studious ones, we have quiet spaces available for you to work in peace.

library

Our library offers a bespoke selection of contemporary and foundational texts and books on art, design, critical theory, and technical know-how. Complemented by our online library service (EBSCO), our students are empowered by a wealth of learning resources included in the tuition. Additionally, our dedicated librarian and team of teaching assistants are on hand to help with research and writing. The library also doubles as a cosy study and work space, replete with private nooks, dedicated iMacs, and free basic printing.

workshops

Our students have access to a range of exceptional workshops, including a fully equipped workshop, a printmaking studio complete with silk screening equipment, and the Makers Lab workshop, which offers cutting-edge tools for creating physical prototypes, such as 3D printing and mould-making.

V&A waterfront

Besides bustling workshops, specialist shops, cafes and eateries, markets, and a vibrant nightlife, the V&A Waterfront plays host to exciting events all year round and students are exposed to festivals and events in music, drama and film, presented by local and international performers.
