Why you should join our open day
We’ve got an exciting line-up of creative activations planned just for you!
Academic Head, Dr Francois Jonker, will open the day with a brief introduction to CTCA and share what makes our creative community truly unique. You’ll have the opportunity to explore our award-winning student work, meet our programme coordinators and lecturers in their classrooms, and ask questions about our courses, creative practice, and career pathways in the design and arts industries.
In the Student Lounge, you’ll experience a fusion of art, light, and technology — including live painting, animation, and digital storytelling. Watch as visuals are brought to life through projected light displays. Get hands-on with improvisational visual creation alongside our talented Motion Design students, guided by Programme Coordinator Lodi Inga.
In Studio 1, 3D Visualisation Course Coordinator and Lecturer Jarrod Hasenjäger will demonstrate ZBrush sculpting, showcasing how digital sculpting techniques bring intricate forms and textures to life in the virtual space.
Over in the Photography Studio (Studio 6), our Honours student Sharon Muyambo will host a live portrait session. Step behind the scenes to see her in action — or step in front of the camera and be the model!
In the Makers Lab (Silo 3, Studio 9), join lecturer Philip van der Walt for an interactive 3D printing demonstration. You’ll also get to see our laser cutter in action as we create custom merch keyrings — a perfect keepsake from the day!
Head to the Printmaking Studio (Studio 9) to get your hands dirty and screen print your very own CTCA goody bag. Lecturer Lizl Roos and her team of students will guide you through the process — a fun, hands-on way to take a piece of CTCA creativity home with you.
Last but not least! Take a short stroll to our Workshop above the Cruise Terminal, where you can experience an engaging woodwork demonstration and see craftsmanship in action — another example of how creativity and making come together at CTCA.
This is your chance to collaborate, experiment, and immerse yourself in the creative energy that defines CTCA.
